Ca. 1950 Workmen at Ford Motor Company

A racially mixed crew assembles a Thunderbird at Ford’s River Rouge Plant in 1957 (above). Note the workmen in the pit below the car. The assembling of V8 engines at Ford's Rouge Plant in 1945 (below). At this time such relatively clean, skilled work was overwhelmingly performed by white workers.
