Ford Motor Company, Buffalo Plant

Located on the Hamburg Turnpike and fronting the Buffalo harbor is the Buffalo branch of Ford Motor Company (top), photographed here about 1950, the time of its opening. The Buffalo plant’s huge automated stamping presses (bottom, in 1952) give flat sheets of metal the flowing contours and distinctive lines that mark the modern automobile.
