EV1

General Motors introduced its electric vehicle EV1 in 1997, partly as a response to California laws requiring carmakers to sell a certain percentage of zero-emission vehicles. Available only in California and Arizona, the EV1 was discontinued in 2001. Despite improvements in battery technology, the EV1 had a maximum range of just 130 miles.
