Chevrolet Camaro

These two images from 1968 Chevrolet Camaro sales brochures illustrate Bill Mitchell’s design ideas. His clean, sharp-edged lines and judicious use of bright trim were in sharp contrast to the rounded, chrome-laden forms preferred by Harley Earl.

Designers worked out their ideas on full-size clay models like this. Mitchell called the sharply peaked lines on the fenders and hood “the crease in the trousers.”
