Ford Tempo

In a February 24, 1983, press release announcing the upcoming availability of the new Tempo, Ford’s Public Affairs Department emphasized the car’s “sleek styling” as well as its fuel efficiency: "The 1984 Ford Tempo Four-Door Sedan is tailored to the family yet is not boxy or boring. The five-passenger vehicle was designed and engineered to provide the functional efficiency that appeals to family-sedan buyers. The all-new Tempo combines sleek styling with the latest 2.3-liter High Swirl Combustion four-cylinder engine, EEC-IV onboard computer and fully independent Quadralink rear-suspension system. Projected EPA fuel economy is 29 mpg in the city and 44 on the highway. The Tempo goes on sale at Ford dealerships in May."
